Well, sort of… The date was Monday, September 3, 1979.  It was Labor Day and Don Imus was back on the job at WNBC in New York after being exiled to Cleveland in 1977.

That time the problem was cocaine and vodka.  In what was just one of many dramatic Imus comebacks, Don managed to clean up his act, and return to the Big Apple.

In this commentary from that morning, WNBC General Manager Geraldo Santana Banana asks, "Will Imus act more professional? Did he mind being fired? What about the NBC executives responsible for his demise? Will it be forgive and forget?"

Hopefully we'll have the 2007 answers to those questions very soon.
